In The Past Tires Were Incinerated As Fuel
Many countries have tried to rid themselves of their massive tire waste problems by incinerating them to make electricity. This wasn’t a bad plan, tires burn quite well, but they release tons of toxic waste into the air as they burn. This created a huge problem with local communities that didn’t want the plants in their neighborhoods. Strict laws were enacted making the burning of tires illegal in many countries. The Pyrolysis Tire Recycling Process Is Eco-Friendly And Green
The new process that has been developed by scientists is called tire pyrolysis. In this process, the tires are heated to a high temperature, about 500 degrees F, in a reactor without the presence of oxygen. When there is no oxygen, there are no toxins created or released into the air. It takes about 4 or more hours for the tires to melt down into three basic ingredients. This process is fit for pyrolysis of rubber.
One is carbon black, a mostly carbon-based additive that is used in the manufacture of tires, radiator hoses, fan belts, black plastic pipes, and any other black rubber items. It can be sold on the open market at a profitable price compared to manufacturing it directly from oil. If you want to get more profitable, carbon black can be milled by a processing facility.

Another byproduct is fuel oil that can be used to power electrical generating plants, refined into diesel fuel or home heating oil, or made into any number of other valuable items. Nearly 40% of each tire recycled is turned into oil. Additionally, many of the pyrolysis tire recycling plants can be made to run on the oil they produce which cuts production costs considerably. Pyrolysis oil can be refined into fuel oil by distillation unit.
The final ingredient that is produced is combustible gas. This is primarily methane, propane and butane, which can be sold directly to the gas company or sold to other industrial users that use large quantities in their processes.
